Game Recap

The Owls came out flying as they were able to score with less than two minutes off the clock. Connor Portlock set-up Ty Reed for the first goal of the game. Windsor kept up the control of the game, but couldn’t finish off their pushes. At the 20 minute mark the Owls scored again off of a corner. Bryan Neff sent a kick into the box, where Tommy Detmer got his head on it. The ball went straight up and Will Fenlon was there to go up and head the ball towards the goal, where Gary Ziegler was there to fire it home for a 2-0 lead. The Owls went into half time with this lead, but had gotten kind of flat right before half. That flatness continued coming out of the break and a few miskicks led to a small breakaway opportunity for Festus, who converted the chance into a 2-1 deficit. Windsor played on their heels for the next 15 minutes, but eventually got back to their possession and turned on the offensive jets. They were not able to score as Festus’ goalie made two tremendous point blank saves and then stopped Portlock on a penalty kick. The Owls held on for the victory with Shawn Casey making 3 saves. Final score 2-1. (10-12-1)
