Game Recap

Windsor hosted Northwest on Friday in their first annual Pink-Out game. Each school donned pink warm-up shirts, as did many of the fans, and the Owls had special home uniforms with pink numbers and lettering. Proceeds from the t-shirt sales, as well as the donations collected at the gate went to cancer research in hopes of some day finding a cure. The game lived up to how special this event was, as Windsor scored less than 5 minutes in when Dylan Sullivan finished a nice pass from Connor Portlock. A little while later, Esteban Borja-Pena would send in a beautiful cross that Tanner Berry headed into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. Northwest would respond right before the half, scoring off a corner on a nice header to the far post. In the second half, each team would score once. First, Portlock finished a great shot off a pass from Sullivan. Then, Northwest pushed numbers forward and scored on a wide open shot just inside the 18-yard box. The game would end 3-2 in favor of Windsor, even as Northwest put the pressure on the Owls. Austin Bagley played well, making 12 saves in the contest. After the game, both teams came together at midfield for a group photo in a show of solidarity. Windsor would like to thank Northwest for being part of this great event that we will continue in future years. (7-9-1)
