Game Recap

The JV squad traveled all the way to Warrenton to take on the Warriors for their third game out of four for the week. The Owls came out sluggish after the long bus ride. It took almost 25 minutes for the Owls to wake up. Gabe Dohack got some momentum going for the Owls when he took a great shot from about 20 yards out that had some curl on it, but not quite enough as it hit off the post. With the momentum now in the Owls favor they were able to create some scoring opportunities. A few minutes after Dohack’s great shot, Grant Siegel was able to convert on one of his shots from right inside the box. The Owls would lead 1-0 going into halftime. The Owls came out with more intensity in the second half. Gabe Dohack had another beautiful shot from outside the box, set up by Eddie Lorentz. This one would find its way in to the back of the net. Warrenton would make a late push though. They were able to get a goal back because of the Owls defensive mistakes. In the last 10 minutes the Owls tightened up their defense and added an extra defender to secure the victory. Ian Phares made three saves. Final Score 2-1. The Owls final game of the week is tonight versus Northwest in the first annual “Pink Out” game. (8-8)

Game Recap

The JV squad got things started against Hillsboro for their second of four games this week. In the first half they were able to control the ball and create chances, but could not capitalize. Hillsboro’s only opportunities came from the Owls defensive mistakes. One of those mistakes would lead to a 1-0 lead for the Hawks. The Owls would bounce back though. Joey Fenlon gave the Owls some early energy with a couple of great shots that hit the post. Gabe Dohack was able to follow one of those shots for a tap in to tie the game at 1-1. That score would remain until half time. At half time the Owls were able to tighten up their defense and correct some mistakes. In the second half Javier Zaragoza provided all the scoring. He was able to score three goals back-to-back-to-back to give the Owls a 4-1 lead, which would end up being the final score. Jared Tanner made two saves. The JV squad gets some much needed rest today. They travel to Warrenton on Thursday and host Northwest on Friday to round out their four game week. (7-8)

Game Recap

The Owls squared off against District rival Hillsboro on Tuesday. The game was intense right from the opening kick, as both teams knew that the #1seed in districts was likely on the line. Windsor had the better of the play for much of the first half, and sent a barrage of attempts on net. Cody Wilson hit the upper 90 post on a beautiful shot, and Dylan Sullivan had two great headers that went just wide off of set pieces. As the clock wound down in the first half, Windsor would set up one last corner that Connor Portlock headed on goal. It hit the cross-bar, and Gary Ziegler was there to pick up the rebound and put it home with only 13 seconds to play in the half. The Owls came out firing early in the 2nd half as well, and Esteban Borja Pena would finish a goal after Sullivan tapped it to him and away from the goalie. Tanner Berry’s diving header would have been the 3rd goal if not for Hillsboro’s goalie making a terrific diving save. Windsor would hold possession and hang on for the 2-0 victory, in what was their best game played to date. Austin Bagley made 4 saves to preserve the shutout. Final Score: 2-0. (6-9-1)

Game Recap

The Owls started a little sluggish, looking like a team that just had 3 days off of school and practice because of Homecoming. They would catch an early break as Cole Stelling would send in a corner that Anton Sokolic knocked toward the goal. The Affton defender tried to clear it, but ended up deflecting it into his own net, and Windsor took a 1-0 lead with 24 minutes to play in the 1st half. That goal seemed to wake up the Owls, as they scored 4 more goals in a span of 14 minutes with relentless effort and possession. Connor Portlock finished a goal after an Affton turnover, followed right after that by Esteban Borja-Pena finishing a goal on a through-ball from Portlock. Next, Portlock would finish a PK after Tanner Berry was taken down in the box. Finally, Cody Wilson put a great cross into the box for Dylan Sullivan to head in the back of the net. Windsor would add one more in the 2nd half for good measure, as Borja-Pena would score on a pass from Wilson. Austin Bagley made 7 saves to preserve the shutout. Final score: 6-0. A quick turnaround for the Owls, as they play District rival Hillsboro on Tuesday. (5-9-1)

Game Recap

The JV squad kicked off their week with a win over the Affton Cougars. It was their first of four games this week. They were in control of the game from the opening whistle and did not let up once. They controlled the ball, connected passes, and created many scoring opportunities. Gabe Dohack scored three goals and Javier Zaragoza had four. Although these were the only two who scored for the Owls, there were others who had many chances but could not convert. Jared Tanner did not have to make a single save this game. The JV squad looks to keep this momentum going today versus a tough Hillsboro team. (6-8)

Game Recap

The JV squad got things started last night versus a tough Lutheran South team. The first half the Owls dominated play. They were able to connect passes and create chances. Lutheran South’s goalie came to play as he made some great saves. The Owls never quit though. Midway through the first half the Owls were able to capitalize on a corner kick sent in by Isac Bello. The ball bounced around in the box and Javier Zaragoza was able to tap it in for a 1-0 lead. The Owls possessed the ball most of the half which lead to Lutheran South being dangerous on counter attacks. That is how they were able to even up the score 1-1, which held until half time. At half time the Owls were able to correct some mistakes, which had an immediate impact in the second half. Those corrections lead to two more goals. Grant Siegel was able to score from a great diagonal pass sent in from the wing by Hunter Metteer. A few minutes later Metteer made a run down the wing and again connected with Siegel. This time Siegel was able to beat two defenders and calmly place it in the back of the net for a 3-1 lead. The Owls were able to hold that lead until the end. The Owls goalkeeper, Ian Phares, only made four saves, but came up big when he was called upon. Final Score 3-1. (5-8)

Game Recap

Windsor came out to battle and compete with a team that has ended their seasons more times than not over the last few years. The Owls’ intensity gave them the advantage at the beginning and had the chance to take a 1-0 lead, but Esteban Borja Pena last touch to get around the goalie was too hard and the ball got away from him. After that the Lancers came back down Windsor’s throats and Austin Bagley practically stood on his head for the next 10 minutes; as he made big save after big save to keep the score at 0-0. The play would go back and forth from there on out, until a bad clearance with 9 minutes to play gave South the opportunity to take a 1-0 lead. Nick Renaud would save a goal with a bicycle kick with under 2 minutes to play in the half to keep the one goal deficit. Windsor knew they were in this game and the confidence at half time showed and they came back in the second half with some just missed connections. A miscommunication allowed a Lancer to get free after those opportunities and the kid hit a shot with so much movement that Bagley had no chance on it, but did come away with 11 saves. This Owls team continued to battle till the end and kept the Lancers on their heels, but couldn’t get on the scoreboard. Final score 2-0 loss. (4-9-1)
