11/6/2018 vs Farmington @ Home (Sectional): The Owls found themselves hosting their second Sectional round and first since 2012. The boys were ready and understood their jobs and it showed from the beginning, as Farmington’s big guns were getting frustrated from the Owls defense. Farmington was getting their shots, but they were challenged at every angle and at a distance for goalie, Jared Tanner, to see. The Owls put their own attack on against a poor defense, but couldn’t quite get the last touch to hit anything square. Farmington eventually broke through with 11 minutes to go in the half on a soft shot that barely hit the post and trickled in. 1-0 at half time, the Owls knew they were still in striking distance and came out with confidence to play. However, three and six minutes into the half, Windsor couldn’t keep up with the Knights’ speed and got caught in foot races. Instead of Farmington taking their shots like they did in the first half, the cut the ball back and passed to a trail man that finished the job off. From there the game was back and forth and the started to really pressure the Knights’ defense and had plenty of opportunities for the last 15 minutes. However, Farmington stood tall and would get two more goals with 1:45 and 0:42 to play in the game with Windsor bringing the house offensively. Farmington scored on two 2v1 opportunities that Jared Tanner made the initial saves on the break, but Windsor couldn’t get the rebound on the first and ended up rewarding Farmington with a penalty kick on the last goal. The boys played with great pride and determination, but in the end they couldn’t come away with the victory. Tanner would make 9 saves in the match. Final score 5-0 loss. (14-12-1)
