10/29/2018 vs DeSoto @ Hillsboro (Districts – 1st Round): Opening up their playoff quest against an opponent that the Owls had beat 1-0 in the season, was not going to be an easy task. Windsor came prepared and moved the ball into the offensive third quickly to start the game. DeSoto’s defense accepted the challenge, but Windsor continued to pressure them on the early portion of the game. The Dragon’s would had a couple of their own opportunities, but the Owls defense kept the shots from DeSoto at a distance for Jared Tanner to see. The Owls finally broke through, when Grant Siegel gave a beautiful one-touch pass to a streaking Tanner Berry. Berry would give the Owls a 1-0 thirteen minutes into the game. Then this soccer match turned into a tennis match, with DeSoto scoring 1:02 later, and then the Owls answering back 53 seconds after that. The eventual game-winning goal came off a corner kick that Hunter Metteer took. Metteer put the ball right into the crowd, where Anton Sokolic dummied on the ball and allowed it to go to the backside of the net for Alex Barton to bury. With that assist for Metteer, he earned his first varsity point. With a 2-1 lead at half time, the Owls wanted to continue to with their plan and eventually it paid off, just under 6 minutes into the half. Cameron Gay would work some great give-and-go’s and would just miss the far bar on a shot, but he did it again and this time he would finish it off for a 3-1 lead, from Berry. Berry would then finish the game off for the Owls with two more goals for a hat trick in the game. His second goal came on a goal kick from Jake Mahon that was placed perfectly for Berry to run onto and then did a dance in the box around two defenders. The third goal came from Metteer and this time Berry beat one defender and scored on a near post shot as the goalie was leaning the other way. Jared Tanner would record 9 saves, but his biggest save happened in the first half with an upper 90 shot that he was able to tip away to keep the game at 2-1. Final score 5-1 win. (13-11-1)
